In 1924, on behalf of Scientific American Magazine, he and a committee investigated the Boston medium 'Margery'. Houdini attended many of her seances. His friend, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, argued with Houdini, insisting her ectoplasmic manifestations in the seance room were real spirit phenomena.
