MESMER
A satirical drawing from
the Paris newspapers of the 1790s. Mesmer is portrayed with the head of a jackass. In this cartoon he is making "magnetic
passes" over a young French woman who is in a swoon. Cynics
in Paris suspected Mesmer of practicing some sort of sex magic.
